totonoinochaya is the tea house of HIGASHIBABA,
a historic shukubo on Mt. Mitake.

Inspired by the nature of Mt. Mitake and Japanese mythology,
we offer ten varieties of Goshin Cha,
our original sacred herbal teas.

We also serve Osagari Zen,
a meal prepared using ingredients from the daily offerings made to the deities.

Through a cup of tea or a meal,
we hope you will experience the prayers and food traditions
that HIGASHIBABA has carried forward through the generations.

totonoinochaya is open on select days only.
Reservations are not accepted.

Reflecting the landscapes of Mt. Mitake
and the stories of Japanese mythology,
Goshin Cha is a collection of ten original herbal tea blends.

Each blend is carefully crafted by our Totonoshi
and served with a handmade sweet.

With every cup of Goshin Cha,
you will also receive a totonoinokami card
bearing the name of one of the deities enshrined on Mt. Mitake.

After your tea,
we invite you to visit the shrine of the deity you were guided to
and continue your journey through the sacred mountain.

Tea Experience ¥1,500
(Includes Goshin Cha, a handmade sweet, and a totonoinokami card.)

Osagari Zen begins with the daily offerings
made to the deities.

Each dish is built around ingredients
first offered to the deities each morning,
complemented by seasonal and locally sourced ingredients,
and carefully handmade one plate at a time.

In Japan, osagari is the long-held tradition
of receiving and sharing what has first been offered to the deities
as a gesture of gratitude.

We invite you to savour a meal
that carries the nature, traditions, and spirit of Mt. Mitake.
